Who doesn’t enjoy a fun contest? As a brand, contesting helps you build and engage your social media community, provide your business with consumer insight, and in some cases, even enable your customers to promote your brand for you.
But as fruitful as online contests can be, there are many ways to fail miserably at them. Here’s how.
Make your own rules
Using Facebook or Twitter to house your contest is a great way to reach your community where they already spend their time. And while you can make some rules, promoting a contest through those social networks has its own restrictions and legal implications. Check the Facebook promotions guidelines and Twitter guidelines before running a contest on either site and make sure they jive with your rules and plans.
