Need for social media council in Malaysia: Rais

A social media council needs to be set up in the country to discuss various issues and aspects relating to the law and usage of the media.

Information, Communications and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said the social media had not only become the latest trend but a necessity to the Malaysian community.

In this regard, he said, it was appropriate that the council be set up with the involvement of social media practitioners so that it could become a medium for the discussion of relevant issues.
