Community united in grief

People all over the world have been expressing their shock and grief after the devastating fire which killed 19 people at Villaggio yesterday.
Children from Japan, Benin, New Zealand, France, the Philippines, Jordan, Egypt, South Africa and a number of other Arab and African countries are believed to have been among the victims, and reports have suggested that three Spanish siblings were among a number of Europeans who died in the blaze.


Social networking sites were full of residents expressing their condolences last night as people tried to come to terms with the shocking news unfolding on international television and online.


“A very sad day for Doha. All my thoughts and prayers to the families who have lost loved ones today,” posted one Facebook user, while many other parents also expressed their compassion for the parents who have been affected by yesterday’s tragic events.
“As a mamma I gave my kiddies that extra tuck in and thank God they are safe. Thoughts and prayers to those families who are not able to do that in Doha tonight,” read another post… Read more
